Guards! Guards!

A work in progress shot of the palace guard.

The colours have been washed out a bit by the photo, they don't look quite so bland in real life. They still need something extra to make them look a bit more interesting, not quite sure what though.

Eagles may soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines

Sooner than expected, here are the shots of the completed eagles and bolt thrower.

Pretty polly

Its been a good day for painting despite some of the usual difficulties.

I finally decided to tackle the Gamezone great eagles I bought a while back. I had initially decided to try and paint them as golden eagles but I couldn't capture the depth of tone in their plumage very well and they looked quite bland. After hanging around semi painted for ages I decided the best fix for the situation was to change the colour scheme to something more like a bald eagle. The extra contrast of the white head and tale has made a big difference and I am really happy with the result.

Here they are with a coat of varnish drying on, I'll get some better pics when I get round to adding the static grass.

Nestled between them there is a second repeater bolt thrower which I also managed to finish up today, told you it was a good day for painting.
